Important climate change news

We all have our climate change anxieties. I've been worried about the impact of AGW on great tits, and am very relieved that they are thriving notwithstanding rising CO2 levels. I think I speak for many right-wing men when I say that this fairly well eviscerates the last good argument for greenhouse gas regulation:

Headline of the week

No. Really.

There's an interesting article in the WSJ about the drive to mandate an 80% reduction in CO2 output in the US by 2050.

From the article:

The goal is an 80% reduction in CO2 by 2050. This means emissions must fall to the level of 1910, when the population of the US was 92 million. (In 2050, the projected population of the US will be 420 million.)

" The only nations in the world today that emit at this low level are all poor developing nations, such as Belize, Mauritius, Jordan, Haiti and Somalia."

The only problem is we'll be up to our asses in polar bears.

Time to break out Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado.

On a tree by a river a little tom-tit
Sang "Willow, titwillow, titwillow!"
And I said to him, "Dicky-bird, why do you sit
Singing Willow, titwillow, titwillow'?"
"Is it weakness of intellect, birdie?" I cried,
"Or a rather tough worm in your little inside?"
With a shake of his poor little head, he replied,
"Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow!"

He slapped at his chest, as he sat on that bough,
Singing "Willow, titwillow, titwillow!"
And a cold perspiration bespangled his brow,
Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow!
He sobbed and he sighed, and a gurgle he gave,
Then he plunged himself into the billowy wave,
And an echo arose from the suicide's grave —
"Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow!"

The San Francisco Chronicle once ran a picture of two birds with the caption "A pair of great tits".
