Barack Obama has been to "57 states, one left to go"
Barack Obama has, apparently, visited "57 states, one left to go." Video at the link.
Some bloggers have noted that the media would be all over it if John McCain (or Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush) had said such a thing. True, perhaps, but I do not think that any of those men should apologize for thinking about steak sauce at a time like this.
Of course, there is another explanation beyond the steak sauce theory or the traditional lame excuse that he was "tired" (yeah, right, like Winston Churchill used that excuse) or that he's "lost his bearings": Barack Obama is an imperialist! His mistake was not in counting the states properly, but in failing to say that he wants to visit 57 states. And who doesn't? Why didn't he say that he wanted to bring back "manifest destiny" a little earlier in the campaign? That would have helped him with the Reagan Democrats. For sure.

It's time to sell TigerHawk T-shirts with a 58-star American flag.
A lot of Democrats live in those eight states: State of Confusion, State of Denial, State of Anxiety, State of Intoxication, State of Poverty, State of Delusion, State of Anger, State of Rebellion. (New York State of Mind is part of the Empire State.)
On the other hand, he may have been thinking about Heinz (57 varieties). Maybe Teresa Heinz Kerrry can pull some strings to get him a job as the product manager of a new 58th variety after the election.
