Helen Thomas be-clowns herself!

This was a bad week for Helen Thomas in the blogosphere. On Saturday, for example, I along with other righty bloggers hammered her for basically accusing American soldiers, in general, of committing war crimes. Now she claims that bloggers have no sense of right and wrong because they "make accusations without absolute proof." Seriously? The "doyenne of the White House press corps" believes that absolute proof is the standard by which we should measure accusations by journalists?

I think I speak for most righty bloggers when I say that I am willing to live by that standard if the professional "journalists" will do the same.

A good offense is often the best defense, but not if it reveals you as both a moron and a hypocrite.

As I wrote earlier in the week, if journalism were a real profession instead of a trade social-climbing its way to respectibility it would have self-policed Thomas to the back of the White House briefing room a long time ago.

I'm in the "it's a profession if you need a license" group. Journalism may be a "calling", but it ain't a profession....

As much as I dislike journalists it's obvious how important the attack dogs of the news are to freedom. Wild accusations are the stuff of front pages, and that's a good thing since the impact of those accusations inspires respect in the minds of the governing classes. Well crafted wild accusations, written with intelligence and a desire to sell papers, are especially damaging to people in power and deserve the greatest respect.

Helen Thomas is a moron though, and stupid people are nothing more than irritating. Stupid journalists especially.
