Mystery Photo II

Since you guys served up a complete and correct answer to the day's first Mystery Photo within one hour of its posting, I thought I'd come back at you with a tougher one. There are huge extra-credit opportunities in this one, including the names of famous buildings, the architects who built them, World War II trivia, and a renewable-energy anecdote. Playing-field leveling tip: We're roaming around New England, and I took the picture this morning.

Actually, the architect in the firm of Pei, Cobb, and Fried who was principally responsible for the John Hancock Tower was Henry Cobb, who also designed the Friend Center for Engineering Education at Princeton University (2001).
