The Rock

I'm fairly sure I hope that John McCain does not get the Republican nomination for a whole host of reasons, but there is no denying that the guy is a rock when you really need a rock, including particularly on the biggest issue of the current political season.

I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on why you hope McCain is not nominated. Are they related to policy preferences? His chances of winning? His age / potential for declining health during the presidency? Other?

There's obviously two missing commas in that sentence.

I'm fairly sure I hope that...

I'm fairly sure, I hope, that...

I join Howard in asking you to explain your comment about McCain's candidacy, and also to rate the rest of the GOP field, as well. I plan to attend the Iowa caucus, which may be held any day now, depending on the response to South Carolina.

I don't know whether you may have had the chance to read Ralph Peter's Real Clear politics op-ed piece about John McCain's "integrity problem (to wit: he has integrity while some others may lack it); but it well worth searching out and reading. It reaffirmed my (positive)reaction to his candidacy.
