Old Nassau car of the day

As seen this morning on Witherspoon Street:

Imagine my disappointment when I learned from the owner, who saw me taking the picture, that he is not a Princeton alumnus. I did not have the courage to ask him why he would choose these colors for his Porsche if he weren't.

Every once and awhile you see a Porsche here and there with an unusual paint job that just looks cool.

There's also a Mini Cooper that's painted orange and black that I've noticed on Nassau every once in a while.

One reason you paint a Porsche an outlandish color is to keep inattentive drivers from hitting it.

Driving a green Porsche 911 nine years ago, I was rear-ended by a big, old Chevy at the stoplight. At the time of the impact, the Chevy was traveling more than 50 mph. I didn't have a scratch. The driver of the Chevy was less fortunate.

Yes, Porsche probably saved my life.

That is a Porshe GT3-RS.......I believe it is very new, a current 2007 model. It is a factory-built special, that is lightened and otherwise modified for make a suitable platform for road racing. These cars race in the American Lemans series in GT-2 class and are very successful. Some years ago, Porsche decided to make these models in very bold colors such as the one seen here. This year they decided to do the same.
