The hacking of Power Line
Joe Malchow has the inside skinny on the hacking of Power Line yesterday. For my part, I wonder what is to be gained by this, other than to persuade the conservatives who read Power Line that the left is filled with vandals and scoundrals. Probably nothing, other than satisfaction of that ancient motivation, "can it be done?"
UPDATE: Power Line self-hacked. Apologies to the vandals. And apologies for the poor editing in the original post -- I wrote it from the passenger seat of a car tooling up I-95, and the glate on the screen made it almost impossible to read what I was actually typing!

Give me a break - I'd really expect better on this blog. It is completely unwarranted to conclude that just because Power Line was hacked, one should in any way conclude that "the left is filled with vandals and scoundrals [sic]." There are so many things wrong with that sentiment I don't even know where to start: a) why would anyone on the left have anything to gain from this, b) just because a conservative site was hacked doesn't mean liberals did it, c) even if the hacker is discovered, and he or she happens to be a liberal, it doesn't mean that anyone else on the left approves of or condones this sort of behavior.
Also, I don't mean to be snarky, but the last 2 or 3 posts I've read here could have benefited from a once-over with the spell-checker. Just letting you know because your posts are generally meticulously edited and so it is a departure from the usual quality.

Says Paul at Power Line: "It turns out that this was an inside job and that I was the idiot hacker."

To be snarky, anyone who takes Joe Malchow's unquestioning ideology and pretentious blathering (not to mention misuse of the English language) seriously should be mocked mercilessly.

Ahahaha I just went over there and read what happened. Hey, we all know, that evil find-and-replace tool was invented by communist, america-bashing, bring-the-troops-home, unpatriotic, lefty scum eh?
Never too early to blame those liberals!

But I'm sure The Left somehow had a hand in it!
I actually assumed it was John McCain's team of vandals and scoundrels.

Phrizz, are you unwilling to take the time to bother to read, or just playing the comment because it can be made to sound like TH sorta kinda maybe made that accusation? TH's comment did not accuse the left of being vandals. Something like that was said, but not that. It seems a willful misunderstanding for the sake of scoring points.
Who, exactly, do you think you score with when you abuse meaning in that way?

Power Line is legendary for its hacks.

Some of the Powerline columns do read like advertisements for Romney. When I saw the first few Romney lines I thought the previous writer was trying to reinforce his preference.
For some time I have noticed that the so-called impartiallity of right-wing bloggers is, in some cases, being slanted by the bloggers preference for a particular presidential candidate (or by dint of the blogger being on the candidate's payroll, declared employee or otherwise). There is a sarcastic edge to some of the writing when referring to other possible candidates. While there is nothing wrong in taking sides, it does detract from the independent reporting meme.

A preference? Right-wing bloggers dare to show a preference? Will the Republic ever recover?

I was hoping there was a hacking conspiracy, things aren't exciting enough. At least most Right-wing bloggers are not deluded by the insane delusions of the left.
