Self-immolation, then and now 


A cleric sets himself on fire to express his deep conviction that his faith and way of life are under attack. It happens again. The New York Times puts one story on the front page and ignores the other. Why?

One had the courage of conviction against oppressive imperialists, while the other polluted the environment by increasing atmospheric CO2 levels.
