The New York Times lies about John Kerry

Yes, lies. After this article, it is not at all clear why the New York Times should not be regulated as an organ of the Democratic Party. It is no longer even attempting to disguise its desperation for a Democratic victory next week.

CWCID: Glenn Reynolds.

OK, so does FOX news get regulated as an organ of the Republican party then?

Let me add that I'm not defending inaccurate reporting, but I do think that you are going a little overboard.

The Mighty Wurlitzer cranks up, and Right Wing bloggers dance in unison. It's horribly beautiful.

On an unrelated note...

Hawk,

What do you think about the immense U.S. naval exercise last week?

In response to A Screwey, thanks for the tangent.

In response to B, I think it was meant as a signal to Iran. I don't believe Debka is correct that it heralds a possible US move against Iran.

OK, let's all just admit the obvious: that Fox news is Republican and that NYTimes, WaPost, LATimes, Gannett, CBS, NBC, NPR, and ABC are Democrat.

I insist, however, that the Grundy Flats Bugle is nonpartisan.

For all of you who have any doubts about the NY Times, please read this morning's Editorial on Mr. Bush's penchant for making comparisons. Somehow, they use this to defend John Kerry's "joke." The problem is how many times can the left continue to make excuses from the many slights and slips of John Kerry? I suppose as long as he does not become a Republican...

I find it interesting that when a newspaper prints (or news channel shows) things Conservatives don't like, it's because it's a liberal paper (or channel). When it prints what Conservatives do like, they quote it all over the place and then say that the truth was so obvious even the liberal media couldn't ignore it. I see a no-win situation here for the media. I'm so baffled by the amount of whining I hear from the Right/Conservatives. (Not to mention how many closeted guys you seem to have on your team). I see and hear things all the time that I disagree with coming from the media and I'm a liberal. How can that be? Shouldn't I just agree with everything that's fed to me? This liberal media excuse is convienient and weak. It's on the same lines as blaming Clinton for things 6 years after he left office.

I believe that the thing that conservatives didn't like about this piece was that fact that Mr. Kerry's remarks were egregiously misquoted. The effect of the misquote was to make his remarks look exactly like what he was portraying them to be. That is not reporting, it is cheerleading. You may notice that the article has been corrected subsequently. But, of course, the original made the impression, didn't it?

Well I put that on par with Fox News putting text under the video of Foley saying that he was a Democrat when that story broke.

"Well they did it too" doesn't make it right, you know.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Mon Nov 06, 11:16:00 AM:

Why should this be surprising at least 90% of the NYTs articles are lies

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Fri Dec 15, 11:35:00 PM:

You wanted to know what we were reading in the NYT at school, right? It may not have been this article specifically, but it WAS one about this "joke."

In the article, it showed what he said with what he meant to say, and he really couldn't have botched the joke worse, if indeed the NYT isn't making this up completely.

The only difference between the article that you've linked to and the one I read was, "Just ask President Bush" was reported as what he ACTUALLY said, rather than what he MEANT to say.

And Catchy, FOX news balances out all of the Peter Jennings-style reporting. If they aren't "fair and balanced", they are, at a minimum, "fairly balanced." And if they ARE biased, then it's justified because almost (please note the critical "ALMOST") every single other mass media device is biased towards the left.
