October 19th and the Dow
observes, October 19th is certainly a day to celebrate thanks to General Washington and our French friends.
However, as the Dow today closes at a new record high of 12,011+, I can't help but recall October 19, 1987, a very tough day in the market. It was a very big crash, with the market closing in the mid 1700s. Imagine that folks. I remember it all too well.
And that happened on the 206th anniversary of our victory at Yorktown...
