Why do Jews vote for the Democrats?

American Jews have overwhelmingly supported Democrats, year after year giving them 70% or more of their votes. If they all read Ed Lasky's essay in the American Thinker, that percentage would decline. By a lot.

CWCID: Glenn Reynolds.

It is interesting to see that more and more is coming out of this issue as well as the automatic black vote for Democrats as well. As a gentile who is a philo-semite I have always prodded my Jewish friends about their Democratic standing and how little the Democrats do for American Jews and Israel. In most of these cases I get a silence that even they can not explain. Unfortunately, many of these people don't identify themselves as Jews first and foremost. One of the reasons I have always admired the Jewish people is because most people refer to themselves as a Jew versus being from Russia, Germany, etc. While most Catholics will tell you where they came from first (e.g. Irish, German, Polish, etc.) My fear is that many American Jews no longer care about those issues that concern Israel or their own faith. But somehow the Democratic Party has created a greater "brand" or at least one that too few American Jews are questioning, because little by little, they are selling thier own faith down the river.

maybe it is because the Dems aren't associated with the Protestant Christian Theocra-, ahem the Republican party?

Be careful about what you say about Jews who vote Democrat. Suggest that a Democratic victory in 2004 could have led to a rise in anti-Semitism and you'd get labelled a "Jew hater" on Little Green Footballs!
