Supporting the sailors

I thought this photograph from the front page of today's NYT "Metro" section was very poignant. You can't see the signs on the small screen, but the words are visible on the newsprint. Some of them are very touching. I especially enjoyed the one that says "friends don't let friends kill children."

Yes, it's the carnival atmosphere that draws them. It's a wonderful way to see and be seen.
