The Hitler picture is quite something ...from a larger group picture of Young Hitler's school class in Austria.
Years ago, when I got my copy of the first volume of Kershaw's Hitler biography, some friends came to dinner...they noticed my new book, and I got that picture out...covered up the caption and we tried an experiment. Of the five dinner guests (none of whom are really into history) -- it was amazing -- all of them independently, correctly, picked out Hitler. It's those creepy eyes.
