Great Bill Clinton quotations from days gone by

Candidly, I had forgotten this one, brought to us by one Khalid Hasan:

Former US President Bill Clinton who many Arab thoughts was more even-handed on the Palestine question than his predecessors shocked many when he asserted in Toronto last week that had Israel been attacked by Iraq or Iran during his presidency, he would have been ready to “grab a rifle, get in a ditch and fight and die.”

“The Israelis know that if the Iraqi or the Iranian army came across the Jordan River, I would personally grab a rifle, get in a ditch, and fight and die,” Clinton told the crowd at a fund-raising event for a Toronto Jewish charity Monday.

Technically, of course, the Iranians are not coming across the Jordan River. And it's not during his presidency. So he's in the clear.

CWCID: Drudge.

Clinton is now trying to make conservatives laugh themselves to death.

OK, I'm going to hell for this one.

"During the Clinton years, I would have volunteered him for that job too...and I'm not even an Israeli!"

[drum roll...]

OK Screwy, don't go ballistic on me. That wasn't a death threat. I don't hate him. I was just mocking the mean-spirited poopy-head Rethug stereotype.

Clinton, of course, would maintain that he meant every word of it, depending upon the meaning of every word.

I seem to remember young Clinton having an allergy to grabbing a rifle, getting in a ditch, fighting and maybe dying.

I guess he's over it.

By Blogger Cassandra, at Mon Jul 17, 05:37:00 PM:

Actually, he didn't develop that allergy until he found out he wasn't going to be drafted aristedes, at which point he announced that, regretfully, he couldn't accept a commission because he "loathed" the military and all it stood for. You see, he didn't much mind the draft deferment. It was the idea of actually having to serve that kinda bothered him.

And he wondered why we didn't like him much as a Commander in Chief.

Even funnier - the Clintonistas, DEMS and their LSM minions' desperate attempt to inject their "respected" (easily conned and scammed), "experienced" (at failure - think "Peter Principal" diplomacy) into the limelight.

When the Israelis want to develop masses of WMD, I'm sure they will appoint someone to trip the light fantastics with Maddy.

DiFi on CNN'S LK last night
said "Bill Clinton knows the territory like the back of his hand".
Uhhh, Diane, we'd have more confidence in your recommendation had you used another part of his anatomy.
Really Di, can you give us an example of anything that Slick Willie is known for that involves his hands, prominently?

CNN'S Ghoul came out to appear on a split screen with puddles and spatters of spilled Muslim blood to tout "engaging" especially by her husband's old employer or members of his admin. They are "experienced". LOL/ROTHFLOL

Best,
Larwyn

Why does CNN refuse to identify Christina as wife of Jamie Rubin? Dumb Q!

By Blogger Assistant Village Idiot, at Mon Jul 17, 09:12:00 PM:

Well, even though everyone knows he doesn't mean it, I'm glad he said it. Sure the courage is cheap now, but it's better than stabbing us in the back, as other prominent Democrats have done.

Larwyn, pedantic point of trivia on the derivation of the phrase, so it will make more sense. Milton used the phrase "trip the light fantastic toe" as a metaphor (a synecdoche, really) for dancing. For some reason the phrase has been shortened to "trip the light fantastic" for at least a hundred years. And makes no sense whatsoever.

I always assumed that phrase was a reference to drug use... who knew?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Jul 18, 04:01:00 AM:

Don't scoff, the IDF has many attractive women soldiers. It's not hard to imagine Clinton jumping into a ditch with them.

By Blogger Cassandra, at Tue Jul 18, 04:54:00 AM:

So bad, Gary :)

I just lost about half my cup of coffee on that one.

By Blogger BCM, at Tue Jul 18, 07:40:00 AM:

I guess it depends on what your definition of the words "rifle", "attacked" and especially "die" are.
