Captioning for peace

The New York Times does not like to have a hand in creating "excess demand for military action," especially since the left started taking shots at it for Judith Miller's pre-war reporting on Iraq's weapons programs, real and imagined. How else to explain the caption under the photograph below, taken at the demonstrations in Tehran's Palestine Square yesterday?

Caption: Another day, another anti-Israel demonstration in Tehran. Iran’s support for attacks on Israel is being widely promoted by political leaders.

Here's another picture of the same demonstration, also in Palestine Square, this time from the Associated Press:

It wasn't just an anti-Israeli demonstration.

MORE: Maybe I'm being a little too tough on the Grey Lady. It did report in the underlying article that the crowd chanted "death to America" along with "death to Israel." Perhaps the former is considered so normal in revolutionary Iran that it is no longer deemed caption-worthy.
