A Message for Angela Merkel
Of course she's the new girl in town, and we should express optimism that she'll be a better and smarter friend than the last Teutonophool premier. However, a reader forwarded to me this piece describing Robert Dean Stethem's courageous final acts, and the President must ask Merkel why his killer was released from a German prison. Please read it in full. It is essentially a letter from Stethem's brother Ken to the President and Vice President.
I would also fully support and would be happy to see my taxes pay for a mission to Lebanon to see justice brought on Stethem's behalf to his depraved murderer. No new trial required. The verdict was correct, it was the sentencing they got wrong.
