Happy Birthday, Ben
It is easy to forget the extent and breadth of his genius. A couple of months ago I listened to the audiobook version of Joseph Ellis' excellent Founding Brothers. Ellis makes the point that had the American Revolution failed, Benjamin Franklin would be the only American of that era who would still be famous today.
For an extremely modern, blogospheric perspective, he was also America's first libertarian.
