More than a year ago, the mainstream media derisively reported that the turkey the President held for pictures during his Thanksgiving day visit to Iraq was fake. These reports turned out to be erroneous, as everybody with access to Google knows. The turkey was real. Yet the editorial control at the
Los Angeles Times is so
incompetent weak that it reprinted this error -- perhaps it is now a lie --
as recently as December 5, 2004.
For the life of me I do not understand why major newspapers do not hire a platoon of high school students to Google the references in the articles they propose to publish. It would cost virtually nothing, and it would save an awful lot of embarrassment.
