Blowing bridges

For those of you who were wondering whether Hillary Clinton has unresolved "issues," this video suggests the answer might be "well, yeah."

You have to think she is steamed by Bill's trip to North Korea, which generated more press coverage than Hillary has received in total since she became Secretary, but she really ought to leave it at home. It would be harsh enough to do that to an American college student, but to a foreign kid who does not know the history so well and in any case is working through an imperfect translator? Not cool.

If you're the chief diplomat of the United States, you gotta chillax even when the African kid asks you what your husband thinks. It's a requirement of the job.

Well, she's understandably bitter about never getting closer than fourth in line in the presidential succession depth chart, and about being upstaged by her philandering husband and a young upstart community organizer (albeit one backed by the Daley machine). She's just not that good an actress.

By Blogger SR, at Tue Aug 11, 08:49:00 AM:

And Hills. Lay off the doghnuts, its time for another complete makeover. And here I thought the orange item she wore when last seen was hideous.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 09:23:00 AM:

Maybe she's ticked because Barry sent her on a slow tour of remotest Africa while her signature issue is being debated at home.

I can't help but think that if Palin said that then you guys would be salivating saying she's so hot and she stands up for herself.

But then again Palin as Secretary of State... that's comical in itself.

By Blogger TOF, at Tue Aug 11, 09:52:00 AM:

Another shining example of smart diplomacy.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 11:10:00 AM:

....yeah but, she sure is a SNAPPY dresser........

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 11:39:00 AM:

"I can't help but think that if Palin said ..."

Palin actually managed a state, whereas Hillary can't even manage her emotions. Or her weight, it appears. Way to savage some kid asking an innocent question - evidently it takes far less than a village to whip a speaking-in-broken-English kid's ass.

Wow, weapons-grade rudeness, smallness and lack of class out of our Secretary of State (essentially a sinecure in the current self-destructing administration) and all some dolts can do is immediately think of Sarah Palin. Gotcha!

On topic, it's more than a little ironic that Hillary would be so pissed at the mention of Bill's name as it's highly unlikely that an abject lightweight such as she would have been a senator or secretary of state had she not, remora-like, glommed on to Bill. But intellectual consistency and logic have never been too prized on the Left.

By Blogger Noocyte, at Tue Aug 11, 11:58:00 AM:

Gracious. If that narcissism were any more brittle it would crackle audibly!

How about a teachable moment, an opportunity to get at some cultural assumptions about gender roles and gently educate a young person who might not quite get that a woman can be her own power? Could have been a nice moment.

/asking too much

By Blogger Georg Felis, at Tue Aug 11, 12:46:00 PM:

Well, she does have a point, her husband has been "Ex-president" for over eight years now. Although I fully expected her to reflect the question back to Obama instead of her husband with something like "The Obama administration believes that...."

In six years, the Hillary for President bandwagon starts up again, ready or not.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 01:21:00 PM:

What an uncharitable bunch you are! If it were a man in his 60s with a paunch, would you be saying the same things?

ANY woman of any prominence would have a knee-jerk reaction to this kind of question -- we are used to being viewed as less important than the males around us. It's unfortunate she responded as she did -- but have any of you been on any of these kinds of trips? I have, and I know how stressed and tired you can get.

Apparently she made up with the guy later.

By Anonymous Mike C, at Tue Aug 11, 01:34:00 PM:

I think she's just pissed at not having been born with a pair of balls. By the looks of it, she's done a fine job of growing a pair.

By Anonymous vicki pasadena ca, at Tue Aug 11, 02:29:00 PM:

You go, Hills!!!

By Blogger Shaun Baker, at Tue Aug 11, 02:32:00 PM:

Hard as nails softpower?

By Anonymous Mr. Ed, at Tue Aug 11, 02:43:00 PM:

Not a fan of Hillary, but in fairness to her, if she did have balls they'd be hanging from the mirror in Obama's dressing room since almost day one. He has royally screwed her by offering her what in any other administration was a plumb position in the Cabinet, and then pulling all the key areas (Russia, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, Korea, the Palestinian problem) from her portfolio. Can't be too groovy that one of them goes to Bill.

Agree the paunch thing is completely unimportant. Posture, though, does matter in a diplomat. I'll give her the point. Everybody has their bad moments.

The best way to begin the healing will be for Barack and Joe to invite Mrs. Clinton and the African student to the White House for a beer.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 03:21:00 PM:

Joe will be replaced on the 2012 ticket by Hillary, with the expectation being she will run for President in 2016.

Right in time to emerge from the Depression.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 04:01:00 PM:

On the other hand, could you imagine Colin Powell or Condoleza Rice speaking in such a manner?

And please, knock off all the "lack of power" crap from women. 3 of the last 4 Secretaries of State have been women.

Mrs Clinto, if you can't take the pressure of the job, go back to the Senate. This was an easy one.

Reset. Recharge. Whatever.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 04:18:00 PM:

Issues, hell, she's got the entire subscription...

By Blogger Retriever, at Tue Aug 11, 06:16:00 PM:

Remember this research (the researcher used to work for Hillary which, one suspects, gave her the initial focus?) http://mba.yale.edu/faculty/profiles/brescoll.shtml Despite the coverage in the past of how displays of anger and aggression in female politicians are less tolerated than those by male politicians, Hillary has still not learned how to manage her public displays of emotion.

Perhaps this is catty of me, but there seems to be a lack of awareness of how she appears to others, which is also obvious in her repeated wearing of such unflattering clothes for a woman of her girth. Pants suits do not suit any women except the young and skinny, and pale blue is beyond inappropriate. Were she to wear a dark tailored dress and jacket and some pearls, she might look dignified. If it is a question of a post-menopausal woman attempting to look younger to the future voters, it didn't work. Probably better to appeal to their grandmother archetypes than seem like a mean witchy mom. Society tends to treat older women better than middle aged ones because of this greater respect for grandmothers over mothers by the young whippersnappers.

One can only conclude from her churlish behavior and her attire, that she is not teachable. Or is she just so intimidating to work for that the handlers and consultants don't dare tell the empress that the clothes don't suit?

Tho younger and less accomplished or notorious than her, and perhaps having had to deal with less overt sexism than her as a result, if one can't deal with irritating assumptions that one's husband is top dog by her age, one hasn't learned much. I found years ago that one could handle such questions diplomatically, sometimes making a joke of it, sometimes just letting it go. Being rude to a person rarely teaches them what you want them to remember.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Aug 11, 07:24:00 PM:

am i the only person who thinks she didn't really overact? that was nothing. she had a legit point, actually. it's not like she was screaming at the lady, she was being a bit sassy, but that's good in an SoS.

By Anonymous vicki pasadena ca, at Tue Aug 11, 08:09:00 PM:

You go, anon!!!

By Blogger SR, at Tue Aug 11, 09:20:00 PM:

anon and Vicky,
Come now. The Sec State of the USA chiding a young african student. That is about as dignified as Barbara Boxer insisting upon being called "Senator."

By Blogger BrendaK, at Tue Aug 11, 11:35:00 PM:

She lost her cool at a podunk meeting that would be little noted and never remembered but for her poor behavior. Her job is diplomacy, and she has proven here and elsewhere that her talents, whatever they might be, are in no way related to diplomacy. Or tact. Or self-mastery.

I think Obama has successfully sidelined her, and she resents it mightily.

By Blogger Gary Rosen, at Wed Aug 12, 02:52:00 AM:

Wow, CP that was clever. A Dem SoS, representing the country abroad, makes a complete ass of herself and you come up with something about Palin! Get your astroturf pay today?

Ours is an envionment where evil is perceived to be rewarded while good is punished. As with everything the Gods have a reason for creating this perception::::
People who fall on the good side of the good/evil scale have more favor, and when they do something wrong the Gods punish them BECAUSE THEY WANT THEM TO LEARN. The Gods want them to receive this feedback in hope they make corrections and begin to behave appropriately. The Gods DON'T like evil and refuse to grant this feedback.
EVERYBODY pays for what they do wrong, only evil people must wait until their next life before they will experience the wrath of the Gods, manifested in their reincarnation as a lower form of life into environments with increased/enhanced temptations.
Sadly, this allows the Gods to position this perception of evil rewarded as temptation, one which they use as an EXTREMELY effective corruptor.

Both Africa and the Medittereanean are regions which have sexual issues. This is a sign of morbid disfavor once you understand that females are the God's favored gender. Muhammad's (Mohammed's) polygamy halfway through his life as a prophet was preditory. Now a huge percentage of Muslims believes in male superiority and that the abuse of women is God's will. Female genital mutilation is still practiced in Africa. Black misogyny is the most eggregious example in the recent past.
Black member size is temptation to a predisposed population.
The patriarchal cancer spread throughout Europe because of Christianity, of which the majority of policy makers were Italian men.

Militancy in Africa is consistant with the Iraqi example, as was slavery and the KKK here in America:::Fear enforces proper behavior. Without it we see what happens as a result of gross/morbid disfavor:::::AIDS, crack babies, dead young men in gangland retaliation killings. This is the purpose behind many black's historical tendancy towards resistance.
The same principle was true in Europe and throughout the world for centuries:::People whom lived under iron fists were conditioned to think the right way. As a result they experienced higher numbers of children accend into heaven because they were taught to think and behave appropriately. Our preditory envionment of "freedom" was the primary purpose the Gods had when implimenting this strategy that is the United States, one which they used to spred the cancer of democracy and westernization throughout the world. And the Gods use this tool that is America to prey on the disfavored both at home and abroad.

Even the Old Testiment is not to be taken literally, but the Gods do offer clues throughout to help the disfavored:::The apple is a tool of temptation used to corrupt Adam and Eve and cast them out of the Garden of Eden.
There is another lesson to be learned from this passage, and it is quite similar to the vailing issue and the discourse over women's attire which ultimately died in the 70s:::Women are responsible for and control the fate of mankind.

Think about what I say. Consider what I teach. Society is going to become disturbingly ugly as we approach the Apocalypse due to spiralling, runaway disfavor.
I do not know when this will occurr, but it is the God's way to grant some time before they end on Planet Earth.
Make the decision to always be good and never look back. Until you do this technology will employ tactics to test your resolve:::Ridicule, beligerance, doubt and refusal to abandon what people perceive to be their "investment".
Pray daily. Think appropriately. Too many are confident, unaware of the God's awesome powers or their status as antients. Others may fall prey to their positioning.
Be humbled, God-fearing and beware of the God's temptations, for everyone is tested to evaluate their worthiness.

Anon,
I'm falling off my seat!!!
after watching the video of Hillary, and my recent venture through the check out line at the grocery store, I've put two and two together...
...it seems that Rosy has kicked her ex to the curb; so, I'm wondering whether she's now got a partner up in Chappaqua with a new attitude!!!
Perhaps you, Anon, can be this new found, blissful couple's press suckertary!!!
Not sure where you've gotten your info; but...I doubt any of you three will be tempted by Black Member size, or any member for that matter!! (except perhaps Gold Member!)

By Blogger Swami, at Wed Aug 12, 09:00:00 AM:

The "stupid" moment was in her followup, when she mentioned not "channeling" her husband. A professional diplomat, understanding that the language may be translated by imperfect translators, avoids slang, idiom, and metaphor. Hillary may well have further confused her audience as they tried to figure out what she meant when she said she was not "putting her husband in a passageway" or something like that.
An amateur error from our chief diplomat.

It makes me yearn for the days when we had a president smart enough to put a professional in the job, like Rice or Powell.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Wed Aug 12, 02:37:00 PM:

You folks are way too hard on Hillary. Crazy hard.

Context is everything in this instance. Hillary is tired. She's thousands of miles from home. Her elbow is broken, she hasn't had a bath in a week, her hair is everywhere and now some idiot scheduled her to sit through a meeting with a bunch of kids. Nice kids probably, but still... She just wants to meet with the Prime Minister, say her piece or make the deal she set as her goal, and go home. I'd be in the same boat, and so would you.

On top of all this the translator misspeaks, asking Hillary what Bill thinks of the China trade negotiation....Bill, at that very moment, is in Las Vegas getting his yaya's out for his birthday! What would Bill say, the kid asks, and Hillary's first thought was "Bill is probably asking right this minute, 'Hey, does that bra clip in the front or the back?'"

What does Vegas Bill think, she is asked? Well, duh.
