Middle America
The TH Sister is wandering around Iowa City, the town we grew up in, and she posted this picture of our childhood home. See those two windows along the bottom, in the brick wall? I shared that room with my brother. The Herbert Hoover elementary school is right over the back yard fence.

I spent many childhood years in house by the same architect in a small town in northwestern Virginia. Other than the fact mine was painted white, where there wasn't brick, they could have been interchangeable.

1) One of life's little pleasures is to revisit one's childhood home and find that it is intact, even well-maintained. Congratulations that yours is still there (and for having a thoughtful and sentimental sister).
2) "Herbert Hoover elementary"? That explains a lot...
Stephen,
I went to Herbert Hoover Junior High School (in another city in Iowa). One of the things you need to understand about Iowa is that it is one of the few places that celebrates Herbert Hoover. Do a little research and I'm sure you figure out why.
