A liberal defense of Israel
From my Facebook feed a few minutes ago, an email from a Scottish professor in defense of Israel, on the occasion of a boycott against the Jewish state voted by the faculty and students of Edinburgh University. It is a glimpse in to the craziness that has gripped the anti-Israeli left, particularly in Europe, and the frankly obvious response thereto.

Insanity, ignorance, and racism have never coalesced so perfectly as in modern liberals' irrational hatred of Israel.

I think the political types who are pushing the anti-Israel campaign are not liberals but are the descendants of the Marxists and Stalinists who have always infested student unions, trade unions, and well-meaning organisations in Britain. It seems this boycott move was put through by a small group - as usual, the extremists make sure to turn up for meetings, while normal people have better things to do.

Nice to see there are rational sane people left in the world.
If you ever want to see the full flower of insane racist Jew-hating morons, just take a look at the comment section of any Washington Post article that is in any way nice to Israel. Some of these people are just frightening.
