Moderate Islam speaks: Don't leave a mark when you beat your wife
The highest court of one of the more moderate Arab Muslim countries -- the United Arab Emirates, where you can buy booze in restaurants and wear a bikini at the hotel swimming pools -- has just authorized wife-beating:
A man can beat his wife and kids as long as he leaves no physical marks, the United Arab Emirates' highest court has found.
The judgment came after a man slapped his wife and kicked and slapped his daughter, according to Abu Dhabi's The National newspaper.
There are, no doubt, genuinely moderate Muslims in places other than the United States and Europe. It is less clear whether there is any place in the world where they wield actual political or juridical power.

It's nearly Halloween, so I suppose we can expect to read ghoulish stories. Except, this one is from true life.
How a civilization treats women and children tells an outside observer much.
The court is merely allowing the husband his right to discipline his wife per Quran 4:34, as Sharia law requires. Nothing to see here, and if you dare say there is, some Muslim somewhere will surely blow himself and a hostage (by which I mean any conveniently nearby Christian or Jew) up for your defaming of Islam.
, atBecause wives are completely covered up, how can you tell whether or not there are any marks?

This is the sort of thing that draws a blank stare or at best an uncomfortable silence from leftists. The ones quicker on their feet will respond with "Yeah, what about Timothy McVeigh?"
Those are the same ones who think it's accurate and funny to call Republicans the Taliban.
In Muslim nations, the question concerning gays is should they be stoned to death, or beheaded, or thrown to their death from a cliff, or crushed to death by a collapsing wall. Here in America, questioning whether traditional marriage is the proper framwork for gay relationships, or asking if DADT should be ended, gets you condemned as somehow worse.
Oh, and anon 07:56, it's simplicity itself. You simply ask them, in the presence of at least one male relative, if they have visible marks. You will certainly get a candid and truthful answer, for as the feminists have constantly told us "women don't lie about these things."
Well, unless they're accusing a Democrat politician, but no chance of that here, right?
Steve, I am not sure which leftists and feminists you are hanging out with that are encouraging wife beating. Perhaps you should out them. Unless they are gay of course but then it is not so likely you hanging out with them, for fear of condemnation.
