Leading by example

If I were an ex-President, I would do this sort of thing all the time.

Once again, the failed policies of the past...

Our president is trying to move beyond these jingoistic shows of nationalist pride.

(the ghost in the machine has chosen the word verification for this post as "bumboy"...just sayin')

PD,
Are you suggesting that there is some kind of better place to move on to from exhibiting respect for soldiers who defend this country? And where might that be?

It's also a relatively unknown fact that former Pres. Bush made the time to visit with and console the families of the service-members fallen in combat in the War on Islamofascism (well, that's what I call it!) But he did NOT invite the press to these meetings, and didn't force the family members to see him, if they did not want to meet him. He wanted them to know that their family's sacrifices were not unknown, nor unappreciated, "by a grateful nation"
THAT'S how you show the troops you support them!!

Say what you like about George Bush...the man has class.

If Mr. Obama could figure a way to make his visits to the bathroom a media event, then we all would have a new reality show to put up with.

It will be interesting to see if the gloves come off after Mr. Bush's book is published this fall.

I suspect that Bush respects the office of the Presidency (rather than the occupant)enough to bite his tongue.

Of course, we all have had to hear the assclown ramblings of Jimmy Carter since he left his very small shoes in the Oval Office...so perhaps Mr. Bush merely doesn't want to look like such a mean-spirited buffoon.

But I still think it's just because he has class.
