News you can use: How to cook a steak

How to cook a steak, by Gordon Ramsey. Try it tonight.

Looks like the kind of recipe that requires excellent ventilation.

On many occasions I have cooked steaks almost just like that and have set off smoke detectors in the process.

Ribeye with whiskey (especially a certain one) and some cajun seasoning (also a certain one... sorry, trade secrets) > better. Butter occasionally; the wife prefers it that way, but it doesn't make a difference to me.

I'm consistently told by guests that I make the best steaks they've ever eaten, so I encourage any aspiring cooks to mess around within the above parameters; the results are grand.

I've also used rum, and the taste is (naturally) sweeter than with whiskey if you prefer that.

Caveat: With rare or medium rare meat. Can't speak for others.

Key to cooking a steak - don't rush the meat.

Room temperature, cook quickly, then let it rest for a bit.
