Alarming Facebook status of the day
From a connected and very hard core environmentalist among my Facebook friends (lighten up, guys, she was in my RA group in college 30 years ago):
Good news! Obama will go to CPH on 18th, not 9th. Also expect major announcement re: EPA on Monday.
If that is not scary, I do not know what would be. And here people were wondering why the economy was not creating any jobs.
Verification here.

EPA releasing the new regs on Monday?
Cap and Trade bills now moot?

Anon, that was my immediate worry as well.
I'm hoping that Obama uses his Olympic strategy here. His most predictable characteristic is his belief that he can solve everything just by showing up.
I think we saw a hint of this last week. The president knows he cannot win in Congress and all those bitter people out there in flyover country are going to just obsess endlessly about their lost incomes and everything, so he's going to implement kneecap and trade via EPA fiat instead of getting bogged down in Congress. This will destroy the EPA.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will early next week, possibly as soon as Monday, officially declare carbon dioxide a public danger, a trigger that could mean regulation for emitters across the economy, according to several people close to the matter.
