Jack, and Squat
The New York Times has an amusing story in today's paper about a small but manifest turning in the tone of late night comedy against President Obama. That led me to this clip from last weekend's opening segment on Saturday Night Live...
Heh.

If they keep this up, I may actually start watching the show again.
The White House, in the spirit of good fun, has ordered that the skit be fact-checked.
I guess, in the modern US, a cat CAN'T look at a Queen!
The SNL actor who plays Obama does something that Obama can't do, look into the camera as he speaks. Obama swings his head from side to side as he reads that words some unknown person has written for him.

From Link,
This SNL skit misses the mark. By the end of 2009, Obama may already be one of the most transformative Presidents in our history.
Obama has already made it clear that he's fiscally irresponsible. Our private sector has responded accordingly, so expect no growth and continued high unemployment. FX traders have also responded accordingly -- hence the 20% drop in the dollar over recent months. Obama could have acknowledged that a strong economy was a necessary pre-condition for his agenda -- but NOOOOO! We have the most anti-business administration since FDR ... and Larry Summers still wonders why unemployment is higher than what Okun's law would predict.
Stimulus could have been half as big, twice as fast and 4x as effective -- instead of a two-year bailout of state governments, funding for Nancy's pet projects and miscellaneous pay-offs.
Energy could have stressed energy independence including fast tracking 200 nuclear plants. Energy has passed the House, and could still be adopted in some form as the Democrats have the votes. Another jobs killer waiting in the wings.
Healthcare will likely get rammed through by the end of the year. It'll likely be worse than what's already proposed, once the "wee hour of the morning" provisions get added. Expect the hidden agenda to include enabling SEIU to take over much of the healthcare industry at union scale wages and benefits.
Once enacted, these things will be very hard to undo. Obama could do nothing after the end of this year, and still have been one of the most influential Presidents in our history. He may even end "don't ask, don't tell."
Link. over
Link has a good point. Nothing would have been preferred to the Stimulus Bill, Cap and Trade, and the propsed Health Dare bill.
, atCan we quote SNL claiming Obama said he did " Nothing"? After all the left quoted Tina Fey and claimed it was Palins words. SO as far as I am concerned Obama admitted he did " Jack and Squat"

I agree with Link...although I would tend to use the adjective "Catastrophic" rather than "Transformative" since the latter implies a change for the better...

Hey!
By this time in Bush's first term, we'd already been attacked by al-Qaeda!

"By this time in Bush's first term, we'd already been attacked by al-Qaeda!"
Of course we were. We had a decade of Democrat dismantling of intelligence operations in dangerous parts of the world...and the "chickens came home to roost".
Bush pretty quickly put measures into place to correct that tragic mistake.
Obama is now re-dismantling those measures.
So bide your time..Al Queda will catch up with us...and this time we RALLY WILL have deserved it!!!
