The perils of extrapolation...

While it isn't clear to me whether the stick figure with the, um, stick in the hand is a male or female, it reminds me that every girlfriend I have ever had was an expert at extrapolating using one or two data points. Ivy League education or high school education, graduate school or not -- it would not matter that I might try to explain why one or two observations would not provide statistically significant or reliable results on which we can base meaningful conclusions . There is something in human nature that tries to formalize events into trends.
