Procedural arcana: How a speed reader stymied the "nefarious Republicans"

I have to admit, this particular procedural maneuver is pretty funny, even if it is in the service of evil Henry Waxman and the destruction of the U.S. standard of living.

I would have thought the Democrats would have learned their lesson from the last ginormous pork-filled bill they rammed thru without reading. Are we going to have to fire them *all* next election?

Wanted: Congressional Representative who can read. No Democrats need apply.

I loved the sign carried by the young lady as one of the tea parties that said, "Why should we study math and reading, Congress uses neither"

Henry Waxman is an evil, nasty little man. He is a prime example of the moral decrepitude of our congressional process, using procedure, intimidation, and backstabbing to achieve his goals, which seem to always be to expand the State control over citizen's lives. He claims to be a representative of the 'scientific community', and is supported as such, but it's a devil's bargain to use his support, and Scientific American's continual lauding hm as some sort of advocate for science played no small part in my cancelling my subscription to that rag, which once was a fine publication, but now is little more than a leftist propaganda rag.
