Friendly reminder
It is not too late to order a Mother's Day present from Amazon! In a pinch, I recommend the The New Yorker Book of Mom Cartoons. She probably won't have it, and if she gave birth to a reader of this blog she will be witty enough to enjoy it. Do not forget to send it for Saturday delivery, which is a lot less expensive if you sign up for Amazon Prime, which gives you free two-day shipping and big discounts on next day.

New Yorker book of mother cartoons? Your eastern elitism is showing. There's got to be a "Michelle Bachmann & Sarah Palin bring Real Mothers of Real Americans, not Traitors," book out there. Buy one, get the Turner Diaries free. LOL.
Actually my aunt at the AP has a copy of the New Yorker thing. Very cool, refreshing, sophisticated tribute to mommies.
Also--do you recall the Spock/toga party comment? I have one witness who says you prompted the comment but it was Tony Kleckner (Will Goodman's pal) who gave the punchline.

Sadly, I do not remember the incident, but it sounds like a conversation I would have been involved in. The punchline indeed sounds more like Kleckner, who is a witty guy, than me.

My mother would not appreciate this one bit. She never understood why the Far Side was funny, so I imagine she'd just look at this New Yorker book, say thank you, and it would sit on the coffee table.
I am buying here something else.
