Engagement with Iran is beginning to pay off...

...for Iran. Sadly, this is wholly consistent with the history.

Article in WSJ titled 'Iran's nuclear shopping list', itemizing some of the techs the Iranians have been trying to acquire.Bottom line is time has nearly run out.

Does President Obama have an exit strategy from his election platform?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Wed May 20, 09:59:00 AM:

Tyree,

Yes.

1) Change direction when confronted with reality and hope the media keeps covering for him.

2)???

3) Profit

If Netanyahu doesn't get satisfaction from Obama, look for him to cut a deal with Mubarak to take out the Iranian nuclear sites.

I wouldn't rule out a joint operation. Who knows? This could be the start of the "better relations with its Arab neighbors" the White House is encouraging Israel to engage in. Not quite what the Administration imagined, perhaps, but at least they couldn't then accuse the Israelis of acting unilaterally.

Mubarak? You're gonna have to explain that one to me.

Dawnfire82, denying the Iranian nutters their nukes is as much in Egypt's interest as Israel's--though, admittedly, Israel has the more immediate concern.

And politically, a successful raid would not be nearly as dangerous to Mubarak's prestige as one might at first assume.

Think about it.

Egypt doesn't have the capability. You may as well advise Oberon the Fairy King to launch a covert action at Natanz with his leprechaun legions.

There's also the little issue that Egypt and Iran have formal, peaceful diplomatic relations.
