The traffic ticket tax

Drive safely and pay attention to those complicated parking signs, because local governments issue more traffic tickets when their own tax revenues are down. Yes, it is yet another example of the many ways in which state and local governments are increasing taxes in the teeth of a declining economy, rather than operating more efficiently so as to reduce the dead-weight burden on the real economy.

I have lived in the same area for over twenty years. The last six months have seen the most speed traps on the roads within a mile of my home than I believe I have seen in the previous 23 years.

They are definately after revenues.

I got a ticket the other day in San Francisco for not blocking my tires on a hill>3% - the hill could not have been over 3.5% - it was not steep.

In the Akron area I've been seeing a ton more poeple pulled over for tickets than I used to.

Now it's 3-4 people i see per commute pulled over, each way. Not so long ago I could go weeks without seeing the blue flashers running.
