Iowa byways

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the well-meaning Iowans who named this road (intersecting Highway 1 between Solon and Iowa City) were unfamiliar with its slang meaning. Which is weird, because I'm fairly sure I knew the term when I was a kid growing up around here.

I'm going to submit this to the Fail Blog and see it makes the cut.

Well, with all those writers they have out thattaway, mayhap they knew that a Dingle is a little wet hollow and therefore a dingleberry could be a quaint and archaic reference to a cranberry or other fruit of the bog...

Could be.

My bet is that in 1875, a family named Dingleberry owned most of the farm land hereabouts.

Well, as long as we are on the subject of slang meanings, I have an old Beaver City school bus. It would be great for hauling the girls softball team around, don't you think?

On 290 between Austin and Houston lies Kickapoo Rd.
