Executive bonuses at the New York Times: Schadenfreude is me
Have you ever watched a war and wanted both sides to lose? Well, if you have you can imagine my delight in the Huffington Post's hectoring of the New York Times Company for paying excessive executive bonuses while it is beating up on its unions for wage and rules concessions. Normally, my view is that executives should earn big bonuses by squeezing concessions out of unions -- after all, that's what the stockholders want the management tools to do -- but since the editors of the Times and its affiliated newspapers would denounce that idea as evil I support the suits in this case with something less than my usual ardor. Let's just enjoy the "sweet justice," as Glenn Greenwald would say.
