Depending on the rich, part deux
Earlier today I observed that the present government was bashing the "rich" and stirring up anger against them while at the same time becoming increasingly more dependent on them. Well, Bill Whittle extends that thinking to at least one logical conclusion.
So let me now send a personal message to The Rich in America…
As an American and a patriot, I implore you – I go to my knees and beg you – LEAVE NOW.
Leave. Just go away. Retire to the Cayman Islands or Bermuda or wherever, but do it now, please, while you still have some love for this country.
Hatred grows quickly in the soil of dependence.

I see where Rush is taking some of your advice and leaving NY after thats states new tax plan for millionaires. Its only a matter of time before the Obama administration dips deeply into the middle class for the money to fund their socially experimentation programs. Change is indeed coming---not the change that many voted for.

But I like it here. Can't we make them leave instead?

Obama may try doing this...but only at the risk of inciting massive tax revolts and even political revolution among the hoi polloi.
Given the above likelihood, Lord Zero may end up doing some good after all: he'll be "the socialist who finally killed socialism."
The medical profession could be the first to go Galt en masse, as price controls, unlimited liability and determination by the government of every aspect of their business lives take the inevitable toll. As linked in another thread, even the Times is taking note of the issue.

@Anon12:02:
Good Article about Medicare...although we'd be happy to get 75-80 cents on the dollar...it's actually more like 22-25 cents.
The Federal formula to calculate yearly Medicare payment adjustments is incorrect. Everybody, including Congress, KNOWS it's incorrect. It erroneously calls for year payment reductions of anywhere from 5-10% when the CBO accountants plun in the numbers every year. As you might guess...EVERY YEAR...our professional societies have to lobby to have it restored.
About 10,000 more surgeons will be required to give STANDARD health care in the US over the next 25 years. About half of the currently practicing surgeons over the age of 50 will be dropping or curtailing their practices over the next 5 years.
Meanwhile, medical schools are seeing a marked increase in female applicants as more men seek alternative professions and more women realize that they can practice medicine part time and attend to their families.
Teaching hospitals are now prohibited from training their interns and residents more than 80 hours a week, despite complete absence of data implicating the alled "fatigue" factor with poor patient care. Consequently, the residents get less experience and more sleep. As a practicing surgeon, believe me when I tell you that I would much rather be operated on by a tired guy than a stupid guy.
Things are not looking good.
My solution?
Hell....RETIRE!!!
