A bailout anecdote
Last week I participated in a panel discussion at an "economic summit" sponsored by a local chamber of commerce and various state and county agencies. The panelists consisted of me, the president of a local bank, the head of some NGO, and the top guy from a New Jersey state agency. The most dispiriting thing about the event was that virtually all of the questions from the audience were directed at the Trenton dude and were variations on "how can I get my hands on some of that there stimulus money?" This being New Jersey it should not have surprised me, but I left thinking that we had become a nation of Wesley Mouches.
Anyway, this cartoon, "the Corzine Economic Recovery Plan of 2009," reminded me of that...

, atIf I can horn in on the story line, here's another dispiriting anecdote from bail-out nation. It seems a Massachusetts bank has earned the ire of it's regulators for failing it's CRA obligation to give mortgages to people who cannot repay the loans. Maybe Barney Frank has something to say about this....
, atRumor has it that New Jersey will enforce the ban on genital waxing in the state. Is that true TH or did someone read that in the Onion? Whatever happened to a woman's right to choose?

Perhaps better known as the Democratic base
I don't know TH. Some sectors of this economy are literally in depression not recession. My sector is in depression. I have run a small business for 23 years through several recessions and never seen anything like this. Gross revenues are 2/3 down. We are considered the top experts in our field but that doesn't matter.
The phone doesn't ring.
Although I didn't like this particular stimulus, I think we needed to do something.
Wow and tax payers will be footing the bills of dozens of liberal wackos for many years to come
