Were you born between 1957 and 1965?
If you were born between roughly 1957 and 1965, as I was, you have never much identified with either the Boomers or the GenX crowd. Well, that's because you belong to Generation Jones. Who knew? Other than the new Republican National Chairman Michael Steele, of course.

What a load of crap. Is there a Hallmark greeting card angle in all this?
Why not just identify ourselves by the Chinese "animal years"?
Anything to categorize people and make them think that they are "special". And now that generation "Jones" has been identified, the villification can begin.
"Keeping up with the Jones".

Who the feck came up with this "jones" thing? Don't the concerned get a vote? Oh, I forgot, this is America where your vote doesn't count unless you live in Florida.
For what it's worth I was born in the year of the swine, as many have reaffirmed over the years.
A huge load of crap.
According to "them" I am a "baby boomer" because I was born in 1955. That gave me the privilege of always getting into the market for something (cars, houses, jobs) after the huge mass of people ahead of me had driven up the price or overcrowded the market. I have had all of the disadvantages and none of the advantages of being a "boomer" but there is no special category for me. I don't want one and I wish I could just be treated as an individual. Groups are for herds.
So, I went to the generation Jones site (Ack!)and I still have no clue where this designation comes from. What the heck is the Jones reference? If I'm supposed to be a part of "it" I would really like to know what "it" is supposed to be.

Re. above comments:
Born in 1955, you are part of Generation Jones, not the Baby Boom Generation. GenJones includes all those born 1954-1965.
There are good descriptions of the origins of the "Generation Jones" moniker in these two articles:

I'd agree the Generation Jones website is pretty crappy, but I totally relate personally to the concept and name. We are not Boomers or Xers! And I believe it really does matter in terms of U.S. politics and culture.
