Silver lining watch
Occasionally we see a silver lining in the absolute control of the Democrats over the White House and the Congress. For example, they have finally decided that the reconstruction of New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is not the responsibility of the federal government.

Of course the Federal government is exempt, as is the Mayor of NoLa and the Governor. It's George Bush who is not exempt. George Bush has become a mythic figure in the Democrat party. Every issue now and forever faced by the country will trace it's roots to policy blunders committed by Bush.
I'm thinking of producing a new line of T-Shirts composed of an issue and then the words "is Bush's fault", as in "Global Warming is George Bush's fault"... Professor Chambers will buy a couple, I'm sure, and so will all the other Democrat apologists who will need to justify whatever amateur mistake the Obama administration has made most recently with another good old Bush smackdown,

Perhaps one of the reasons to do nothing new about New Orleans is that Bush administration have done most of what was needed and could be done already.

Then as the nation lies economically prostate on the ground, and while TH looks hard for silver linings in this disaster of a presidency, perhaps the rest of us shoud keep an eye out for the lead boots aimed squarely at the nation's head.
Just in this past week we've seen the resurgence of protectionism, the abandonment of human rights, the end to welfare reform and the most massive payoff of party political constituencies in the history of the world. What's upcoming next week? How about a massive tax increase? Yeah! Depression be damned! Full steam ahead! Let's shoot for food riots in March!

Anon the First is right. The left did this once before with Richard Nixon. They accused Nixon of doing the things that LBJ actually did and kept repeating it until it stuck. Conservative read "1984" and said, "How horrible". The leftists read it and said, "We could totally make this work."
