Pass interference

My support for the Eagles this afternoon was confined to the vague idea that an all-Pennsylvania Super Bowl would make for interesting trash talk in the region, but if I were an actual Eagles fan I would be pretty unhappy right now. From where I sit, that was a fairly clear case of pass interference. Anybody disagree?

Incidental contact.

It was a catchable ball, even with the on purpose incidental contact. Get over it.

If you want to discuss poor calls in this one, the possible PI at the end of the game was clearly subject to honest disagreement and/or debate. But the horrendously blown call on the 1st half kickoff (called out of bounds and "not subject to review" when the Cardinals clearly recovered the kick and should have retained possession after their 3rd TD) was as flat-out bad a call - in an important situation - as one could ever want to see.

Ah, Tigerhawk, you should only have grown up with and endured this team. They are like Sisyphus, only to fail to get the rock to the top of the hill. Under Andy Reid, they've had 5 NFC championship game appearances in the past 10 years, but to get to only 1 Super Bowl.

Yes, it probably was pass interference at the end of the game. Yes, the refs could have blown the call in their favor on the kickoff right before the end of the first half. But the bottom line is that the Cardinals' offense played great, the Eagles' defense wasn't as good as it was in the prior two weeks, and Donovan McNabb didn't come up big in this game. He's a good quarterback, but perhaps his fate is not to be a championship one.

The Eagles had an uneven season, and most teams fans' would be happy with a season like this. But this game was a microcosm of our their performance and their fans' relationship with them over the past decade -- up and down.

And today they just broke our hearts.

Again.

Your standard of measurement will be whether children not yet born will remember the agony of this moment, as Red Sox fans "recalled" that Johnny Pesky held the ball a split-second too long in 1946, even if they hadn't been born yet. It's a little crazy.

I'm a Giants fan so that wasn't pass interference.

I didn't have a dog in the race, (Cowboy fan). Bad call, maybe, but you can't beat this Cardinal team. Washed up Quarterback traded twice in last few years, 9 - 7 record in the regular season, takes a group of young guys including a 2nd year coach and is an under dog in each playoff game and some how makes it through the playoffs and to the super bowl ? This is straight out of Hollywood.

Kurt Warner is one of the most under-rated QBs ever. He has the highest yards per pass of any QB ever, If he wins this Super Bowl he should be in any conversation about who was the best NFL QB ever. And he's from Iowa.
