If you are of a certain age and have dispatched your children into the iron maiden embrace of a competitive suburban school, tell me that this does not ring true:
Remember, you can both love your children and think that, in the main, we're a bit too obsessed with celebrating their little triumphs and stroking their oh-so-robust little egos.
