Fire with fire 


I must say, I delight in this little example of the marketplace of ideas at work:

It took a little while, but Christians are finally mobilizing to kick some ass in response to the pro-atheism ad campaign that's been running on Washington, D.C., buses for the past several weeks. (link added)

I love it that the two groups are having at it in billboards and signs instead of fabricating some cause of action for the courts to sort out. This is exactly how it is supposed to happen.

I agree with you entirely, TH. As Milton wrote in his magnificent Areopagitica:

"Though all the winds of doctrine were let loose to play upon the earth, so Truth be in the field, we do injuriously, by licensing and prohibiting, to misdoubt her strength. Let her and Falsehood grapple; who ever knew Truth put to the worse, in a free and open encounter?"

This is a proposition we should all endorse, whether we share Milton's views concerning what constitutes Truth or not.
