Irony watch: Citing Sarko

In the bizarro world news of the day, a liberal Israeli newspaper and American conservative bloggers -- count me in! -- are citing the president of France as authority for the proposition that Barack Obama is "immature" in his conception of Iran.

Next thing you know, we will be ignoring our "traditional allies".

Wasn't that joint press conference with Sarkozy and Obama supposed to show how Obama had arrived on the international scene?

That should teach Obama to trust the French! (But it won't.)

Well, the French do have a point (yep, this is the first time I've ever typed those words).

Obama has stated that he'll negotiate one-on-one (forget the preconditions details) with Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba et cetera.

Without, apparently, consulting with our allies beforehand.

Unilateralism anyone?

Forget about cowboy diplomacy. Let's call it "hat-in-hand diplomacy."

Hey, I don't worship at the altar of multilateralism; but if you do, then you should be upset at some of Obama's statements (and we won't even include the trade policies).

The French Embassy says the story is bogus, see here: http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/Sarkozy_calls_Iran_remarks_groundless.html
