Word 2003 vs 2007

Something I did not know: saving a Microsoft Word document in 2007 format saves a lot of memory compared to saving it in 2003 format. I have a digital copy of my schedule on my computer (in 2003 format), and when I copy-and-pasted it into a 2007 document, the difference was fairly large: 14KB to 70KB. Overall, that doesn't seem like very much, especially for someone with lots of hard drive space, but if you're someone who has a LOT of documents on a smallish laptop, 2007 might be a good idea.

Not to mention, of course, the improved UI. That's the main reason I like it.

I agree - the new UI allows you to access all the features much more quickly. It only took me a few days to figure out where everything is located.

Heh... :) I'm still struggling with the new interface, and I'm a s/ware person! But then I have several PCs and switch constantly between them. That doesn't help.

Neither does the getting old thing.

The ribbon would be better than the old UI, except for one glaring mistake - it does not allow you to edit the ribbon's categories or make a new category. I have no idea why not, but it costs me lots of extra clicks for the way I use Word.

As an attorney with lots of transactional tasks, I need to redline and have the review tab available most of the time. But I also want to be able to do regular formatting tasks like the home tab lets you do. Previously, in 03, I just put both toolbars up. But 07 won't let you do that. I find that annoying.
