Pictures of the flood in Iowa
The Boston Globe's Big Picture has a startling slideshow of damage to Iowa. I am out of the business of making intemperate comparisons to New Orleans, but the destruction, spread over many cities, towns, and villages, is devestating nonetheless. Examples:
Ouch.

Shockingly, the media is failing to cover the looting, violent crime, and conspiracy of America against the residents of Iowa.
You'd think these Iowans were actually decent, reasonable people who just following instructions to evacuate.

Watching the news after I got home from work and the grocery store, I saw a short report about some folks somewhere in the flooding making the best of a bad situation - a swimming pool was elevated enough to not be contaminated with flood waters, so they were having a pool party - they arrived in their canoes and kayaks...

You know... it's bad to see downtown flooded, but seeing all of those homes... now that's truly disheartening. WOW.

In antiquity, observant populations located their cities and granaries on high ground, safe from the periodic flooding of their life-giving rivers. Those that failed to do so paid the price.
It would seem that history is repeating itself.

Man forgets that although he tries to control Mother Nature with levees. dams, retaining walls and such, he can never truly tame her, and she sometimes has to remind him of that fact, such as we saw in NO and 15 years ago in the Midwest and are seeing again today...
It hurts to see all those homes flooded. I wish you guys all the best.
