Me and the huge German beer

Alone in Frankfurt with an evening to kill, I took a cab over to the square by the Romer and treated myself to schnitzel mit spatzle and a huge beer. I really love the huge beer in a German bar outside during the summer. Photo credit: a British motorcyclist named Paul.

Tigerhawk,

Awesome beer, and schnitzel mit spatzle is great food too.

While you're over there, see if you can get your hands on Heubacher Bier from (my mom's home town of) Heubach, some two hours away from Frankfurt. I'm no beer expert, but I always found it to be excellent.

Enjoy your trip!

Boy, does that ever bring back fond memories...a lovely September evening in a biergarten in Munich with a pal. A delightful canopy of trees, a soft breeze, bar maids scurrying about with 10 liters at a time and 3000 or so of my closest friends. Prost!

Dang. You could put out a flaming BMW with that.

While I could do without the bier (never have cared to develop a taste for it), the rest of the meal sounds delicious. The place we always went out for a good German meal in Augsburg was (perhaps surprisingly) The Balkan Grill. Their schnitzel would hang off both sides of hte plate, and covered a huge pile of pommes, always ordered with a Spezi (hey - I was a kid still living with the parents...).

I could drink 4 of these in a long day, with lots of water. maybe 5 total in 24 hours. that's it.

After that, I'd be warrick Done.
