McCain on SNL
If you don't think this is hilarious, then you don't know what funny is:
If we are going to have multi-year presidential contests, politics needs to be funnier. Generally, our new fear of being accused of being racist, sexist, ageist, anti-military, or of being morally degraded in some other way, inhibits what ought to be a hilarious moment in our great political history. Fortunately, Saturday Night Live seems to have carved out a free-fire zone of sorts, a valuable and culturally essential niche for eighteen months every four years.

She would accept the position as John McCain's V.P.

I've always been a fan of McCain's comic chops. I recall one moment when, during a town hall meeting, a 15 year-old boy stood to ask him a question. With arch timing, he said, "Can you vote? ["no"] Siddown!"
McCain plays masterfully against his stodgy appearance and reputation for crustiness with a really effective blend of self-deprecation and aplomb. If nothing else, it would be good to have someone in the White House who is genuinely --and intentionally-- funny.

That's a horrific idea. You seriously underestimate the hatred that many people have for that woman. Conservatives are already iffy on McCain. Do something to completely alienate them like that and you might just find Obama carrying Texas.
Lieberman, on the other hand... I've been hearing that idea lately, and I don't think it's a bad one. If you ask most conservatives to choose a least-bad Democrat, he is almost always mentioned. He's also a personal friend of McCain's who agrees with him on matters of substance.
