Geography
Less than a week after the 57 states kerfuffle, Barack Obama quite obviously forgets that Kentucky shares a border with Illinois, the state he represented in the United States Senate. Either that, or he thinks that Democratic primary voters are idiots (a not unreasonable assumption, but unwise to admit). It is hard to think of a third explanation.
Of course, since Obama is a Democrat, expect no mocking from the chattering classes.

"...the state he represented in the United States Senate."
Got a citation" (I know he was elected--FSVO "elected"--to represent Illinois. The question is, is there credible evidence that he ever did?

Meh, he kind of used an unnecessary throwaway line that politicians do from time to time, so the border thing is not a big deal. Maybe they don't teach 5th grade geography in Hawaii, since it's not part of the Continental U.S -- or maybe he was in Indonesia by then. Anyway, Lexington to Chicago = 310 miles as the crow flies; Lexington to Little Rock = 490 as the crow flies. Go figure.
The bigger thing is the last part of Senator Obama's rather lazy statement:
"What it says is that I'm not very well known in that part of the country," Obama said. "Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it's not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle."
Pardon?
"...some of those states in the middle"??
Is that where the bitter clingers live?
He might as well say:
"Just give me the coasts, except the South net of Florida, plus my home state and Ohio, and a few states such as NM or CO where coastal transplants now live, and I can get to 270."
Since it has been a Democratic Party theme since Adlai III of Illinois that the Democratic Party Presidential candidate is oh so much brighter and more knowledgeable than the Republican Party counterpart, this is rather amusing. OTOH, when one speaks nonstop for days on end, mistakes will be made. What tees me off is the different treatment the MSM gives such gaffes.
