Unless I'm blind, the M4 or and M16 does not eject and intact round but only an empty casing. Notice the bullet is still in place in the round.

It's real. The 5.56x45 mm NATO is necked down from 9.55 mm to 6.43 mm at the neck. That is what you see in the blur.
I've seen a higher resolution image of this shot before.
