Finlandization's new meaning 


During the Cold War, the disparaging term "Finlandization" described the process by which a putatively sovereign neutral country would conform its policies to the wishes of its geopolitically more powerful neighbor. As in Finland doing what the Soviet Union wanted it to do.

Finlandization apparently has a different meaning today.
