The cult of Che

The left's chicest terrorist features prominently in more than one of Barack Obama's local headquarters. One is forced to wonder whether the clowns who put Che's flag on the wall know that this could cost him Florida.

CWCID: Glenn Reynolds.

This story cracks me up, mostly because I'm picturing some confused kid at the Obama HQ furrowing his brow in a vain attempt to understand: "But.. wait.... Che is bad now? Ok, I'll take it down. You don't have to yell. Damn".

"this could cost him Florida."

Florida? You mean in November?

Dr. Mercury, there have been suggestions that Florida hold another Democratic primary to avoid a convention fight over seating the state's delegates (if the race stays close).

In their case, truly, ignorance is bliss.

My ex-office mate had a Nathan Bedford Forrest poster on his side of the room. He told me the guy was a "patriot and a freedom fighter." Is that the kind of stuff you're taking about? Come on Tigerhawk, when right wing blogs start getting into nonsense like this, the wingnut blogsphere takes on this bizarre, homo- (or lesbo-) erotic circle jerk aura. Let's pleasure ourselves, and not talk about helping Americans in the real world...

...besides, I really loved "The Motorcycle Diaries." LOL

CC : If you are more interested in truth than in movie myth and invective, you might be interested to know that Che did not tour South American a motorcycle, but on a bicycle with an engine attached to it. (Anderson, Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life, page 59.) Here is a photo of Che on his put-put.

I'm hoping Rowan Williams endorses Obama soon.

Nathan Bedford Forrest was a war criminal, pure and simple, for the atrocities at Fort Pillow, among other things.

But Che Guevara was a terrorist, thug and murderer; the most seductive part of his life story is that he romanticized this sort of nonsense.
Two wrongs don't make a right.

If Obama were running for the city council of Berkeley, California or Yellow Springs, Ohio, we could all roll our eyes and shrug it off.

But I think he is campaigning for a higher office. He needs to get a little better control of his people, because a few more such occurances are going to wake even the most somnolent Americans, who could be persuaded to vote for him come November.

Why don't you post something about Bush's FCC just now fining ABC $1million for showing an ass on NYPD Blue four years ago (the show's been off the air that long) while corporations are running amok rippig off folks, poisoning them, hiring illegal aliens. Infinitely more interesting than Che posters.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Feb 12, 06:51:00 PM:

Yeah! Let's change the subject, and not pay any attention to the inconvenient stuff, like political statements in the middle of a campaign.

C'mon CC- pointing out support of terrorists/killers/thugs is a worthy point, and the press ignoring the issue (if we can call it that) is also worthy. If it were a McCain group who'd done it, he would roasted by the press. We want fair and balanced!

- simple variant of the oppressed and the oppressor

Che posters?

Perhaps the urban proletariat can extol the virtues of Marxism?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Feb 12, 07:18:00 PM:

Seriously, a Nathan Bedford Forrest poster? A rebel flag I might believe this sounds too good to be true. Did you happen to get a picture of the offending poster?

Christopher Chambers uses the playbook:

Admit Nothing
Deny Everything
Make Counter Accusations

For my part, we spent thousands of lives and billions of dollars fighting Communism, Fascism and Socialism around the globe, it rankles me that people in Barak's campaign treat our sworn enemies better than they treat Republicans.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Feb 12, 08:24:00 PM:

The evils of communism and evil men like CHE we dont need his wicked ideas

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Feb 12, 08:36:00 PM:

Hey tyree,

Helluva catch!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at Tue Feb 12, 10:03:00 PM:

Good thing the blogosphere isn't regulated by the FCC. Christopher Chambers shows his ass every time he posts. And it ain't pretty.
