Sunday morning in Advent Mystery Photo!

I took this picture two years ago today somewhere in the United States. For mass quantities of TigerHawk "points" (redeemable for glory among the smartest blog readers in the world), identify the church, the city in which it is located, and its historical significance.

I'll take a swing at that one.

I think that it is the San Jose de Gracia Church in Trampas, on the "high road" between Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico.

Oh, and as to the historical significance, I believe that it was contructed in this remote location as a way of avoiding the influence of the main line Spanish Catholic Church on the Penetante religion of New Mexico and southern Colorado. Thay are also known as the "Hermanos" (brothers).

No, jackalope, but you are fairly warm.

Would this be Our Lady of Light Chapel, known as the Loretto Chapel, that was founded by the Sisters of Loretto (first American order of nuns dedicated to teaching). Also contains the "Miraculous Stairway."
(located in Santa Fe, NM.)
????????

I'm thinking San Miguel, just down the street from the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe. It is billed as the oldest church building in the US.

I'm going with Erik on this one ... particularly given the fact that you were posting from Santa Fe two years ago...

We have a winner! It is indeed the San Miguel, supposedly built in 1610, a decade before William Bradford, Miles Standish and the rest of the Pilgrims landed in what was to become New England.
